Lower back pain?
I hurt my lower back about 3 years ago pitching for fastpitch softball. I have seen 3 different doctors and I endured physical therapy for about 2 years, had 2 epidural shots, and recently had radiofrequency done. The radiofrenquency helped for about a week but the pain came back. Nothing has worked and I don’t know if I should go to a different doctor (I am currently at a chronic pain relief center) or just let my doctor try everything and anything to get rid of my pain. I am 18 years old and hope that I will not have to live with this pain for the rest of my life. I have no clue what to do.
I had PT for a total of about 2 years with a few breaks in between for a few weeks. It was at the same clinic but with three different therapists.

One PT thought I just had weakened back muscles. Another one said it was because I am hyperextensive. I did a lot of the same exercises with the first two PTs. The last one said it was because the muscles in my hips don’t ’shoot off’ in the correct order.

I agree with Mistify, do seek other opinions in PT and maybe a physician. I was wondering what your therapy consisted of? Did you try aquatics? Have you since gained weight and are you now more out of shape then you were 3 years ago? 2 Years of PT is a long time. Was all of it with one provider?

If you can find the right one, a chiropractor should be able to help with lower back pain. Sometimes acupuncture can help too. Going for a walk every day can help. These are the things that have helped me with my lower back pain. I know people who do Yoga and get relief. Good luck.

GO see a second doctor…
as it certainly wouldn’t hurt as the second doctor may pick up on something that the first doctor didn’t.
lower back pain . isn’t always about an injury.

Definetely seek another opinion…not just of your physician, but also of your physical therapist. 18 is too young to get caught up in the system.
